Article Processing Charge
Authors pay a one-time Article Processing Charge (APC) to cover the costs of peer review administration and management, professional production of articles in PDF and other formats, and dissemination of published papers in various venues, in addition to other publishing functions. The journal shall impose neither charges for rejected articles, nor submission charges, and surcharges based on the length of an article, figures or supplementary data.
In order to support open access, the Journal of Sichuan University (Medical Science Edition) collects an article processing charge (APC), which is paid for by the author(s), or the institution to which the author(s) is/are affiliated, or a program that provides research grant, etc. The APC for an accepted manuscript is USD 300.
All named authors of an article published in the Journal of Sichuan University (Medical Science Edition) bear the responsibility for contributing to the design, conduction, analysis, and reporting of the study in a meaningful and identifiable manner and agree to be held accountable for all aspects of the study.
According to the Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing, and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals (2021) of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), authorship is based on the following 4 criteria:
1. Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work;
2. Drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content;
3. Final approval of the version to be published;
4. Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved.
Those designated as authors should meet all four criteria for authorship, and all who meet the four criteria should be identified as authors. Those who do not meet all four criteria should be mentioned instead in the acknowledgement section.
In addition to being accountable for the parts of the work she or he has done, an author should be able to identify which co-authors are responsible for specific other parts of the work. In addition, authors should have confidence in the integrity of the contributions of their co-authors.
The APC should be made only after the decision made by the scientific board and Editor-in-chief using the e-mail address from which the paper was sent in the payment announcement in order to easily identify the study. An invoice might be sent to authors if they send complete information (name, address, country, codes, ID, or what they need to have on an invoice). The APC should be made within seven (7) working days after receiving the invoice from the editorial office.
